Scanned from German Fighter Ace Erich Hartmann; The Life Story of the World's Highest Scoring Ace from Schiffer Military Books.

In the Photo I scanned the K in Karaya was cut off, so I copied and pasted the top of the K, and reversed it on the bottom to try and fix it.

Anyone know what Karaya means, I know his plane number was #1 so thats the Einz part of Karaya Einz.

I colorized it, saved it as a 64X64 BMP, the Background color was captured from a screenshot of an AH 109G6.

Now Cave.

I did these, got em from the Delphi My Forum where we discuss the Flying Tigers.  When I make my come back I may want all my angels back, and rotate them if I ever create the AVG 3rd Pursuit Squadron.  (That would mean HT would do the P-40B!)

But here are a few more honeys.

                 

I have 640 X 640 available of all these, incase someone wants a colorized BMP that they feel that they could do more work and make stand out better.  I hesitate to copy the 640 X 640s onto my ISP cause I am only supposed to use 5M for storage.  So if you want the  640 X 640 I will have to e-mail it to you.

In the top part of the heart, "Usch" is the name of his wife.  "Karaya" means "Sweetheart".

Nope Karaya means  bad omen (Verheissung .. don't have a dictionary at hand and that's the closest i can recall) According to Hartmanns Biography

Actually DT I've been thinking on changing the background to 176,176,176 so it's transparent and only the angle shows on our cowlings

Yes,

It's Ursel,  The Rest of the Photo has Col. Erich "Bubi" Hartmann sitting in the Plane.

He only got 92 in the Karaya Einz and didn't fly it all that much cause the Russians recognized it and ran away.  So he started putting his newbies in it, which helped them get combat experience and he started getting kills again in a different plane.

"Usch" was his pet-name for Ursel.

Any chance that "The Wrecking Crew" could become the "AVG 3rd Pursuit?"

The Only thing keeping me from coming back now is that I am working in Toledo for two months, min.  250 miles a day driving, eight hours of work, that is 12 hours gutted from day right there.

IMHO not worth $29.95 to fly AH for three or four hours on the weekend at this time.

Matter of Choice I know, see ya up!

(I will have more Angles in the Near Future, have seven total.)
