Roscoroo,

I've scoured the internet forums for any problems similar to yours and came up empty. I am slightly confused,,are you actually getting sound?

There is an updated ( well not recently updated ) driver for audio on the a7n8x -e deluxe written for Win98 at:

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7N8X-E%20Deluxe&Type=Latest

It says it improves sound quality for win98.
You may, if you haven't done so already, give this a try. I know from building many pc's over the years that the drivers that come with the board are usually porked and I almost always have to download new ones to make everything work correctly.

If I find anything else I'll post.

im not getting any type of  feed back thru the speakers , and the sound seams to work like it should .

i did install the updated drivers (it shows those in the second screen shot)  v3.75's

but with nothing playing I can see the output in the Soundstorm monitor at full and flickering maxed out .(notice the 61% usage)

i'm almost positive that this is causing my problem in AH .

I think Skuzzy and Davinrino are running the same Mainboard so I hope the'll ring in .

(ive been scouring the amd/asus  forums ,but i havent seen the solution  yet )

P,s. I dont really want to upgrade to XP and i dont think that i should have to do that   (I had 98 on my other a7n8x-deluxe not an "E" model and it worked fine)

Rosco,
I don't use the Asus drivers.  I am using the 4.24 Nvidia reference drivers which will update everything except the Marvell LAN, and Windows Update took care of that.  I never have any sound or Vox issues with acceleration at max.  The 4.27 just came out but I have no reason to upgrade (it ain't broke).  I use the digital SPDIF to connect to my home theatre 5:1 surround system but it also works fine with analog through the TV.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_win9x_4.27

Two important things.  Do not use the Nforce IDE driver.  Everyone has better luck using the International pack.  This version actually has the 4.24 drivers loaded in the XP English pack but the ne ones in the Intl for some wierd reason.  I think I installed  the 4.24s over the top of the CD divers before my format and it was OK.  I have also used Driver Cleaner when installing Nforce mobo drivers.

Yea the 4.27 international nvidia drivers did the trick ,
the sound driver is still the 4.24 ver in that pack .

So the trick is use the nvidia drivers instead of the asus ones .

Time to finish the new water system and get with it . :D
