Armor Feature Request's
« on: September 01, 2004, 03:16:27 PM »
Recently Ive taken a liking to Ground Vehicles and
Heres some ideas that I think would make them alot more Interesting and immersive. I really have fun in Ground Vehicles and although there is some discrepincies in the armor modeling I really dont want to discuss it here.

1) Smoke Tanks, Grenades/Mortars.

Most Tanks had them, Our Tiger Tank definatley had them. It would be cool to lay a smoke screen for an armored column approaching an enemy town.

2) Fire

A lot of tanks caught fire, when they were hit in the right spot lets see armor catch fire.

2) Armor Bailouts

When your tank is immobile, or on fire, its time to get out. Lets see a Bail out for AFV's.

3) Button Up!

Most Tank commanders didnt stand through the hatch observing the battle, while other tanks shot at them or airplanes strafed them. Lets have a feature  where if you are in the Pintle Gun posistion you could be killed or wounded. And if you are killed in this position you jump to the drivers seat, In turn you would not be able to jump back to the pintle position. If you were wounded you could operate the gun till you passed out or get killed.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Tanks can lay smoke already.

I think he means engine smoke, rather than smoke shells from the cannon.

Modern battletanks can use both smoke shells and engine smoke, and producing engine smoke from a WW2 tank would be as easy as injecting engine oil into the exhaust manifold.

I use smoke shells exclusivley when I'm out in the Ole Panzer 4,

I use smoke to hide my movement, I shell the path in front of me to get to another row of trees or small hill under fire. I use smoke shells to show friendlys where the enemy is Hiding. I use smoke shells to conceal the posistion of friendlys from the enemy's line of sight if they need it.

But the worst thing is getting your turret knocked out, and losing the ability to withdraw under the concealment of smoke.

I would like to see another tank or two to choose from. The American, Russian, and British forces all had some very worthy Armored vehicles to choose from. What about a Pershing, Sherman, a Stalin, or even a Crusader. Just a thought.

That will be awesome if it happens, and yes... I like the button up idea myself. Having a tank die just because of a turret hit is very unfortunate. Especially if you have several hard earned kills to land. This game just gets better by the minute!

The other day, I had 11 kills in the Panzer.

I was parked Hull Down on a small hill. At this battle there were three spawn points, two being controlled by the enemy, I had my sights set on one of the Spawn Points, while my countrymen had the the other enemy spawn point camped. What they didnt realize is that the enemy tanks that were killing them were from the spawn point I had just arrived at.

The Tides had turned and I could not kill all the panzers and M8's that were spawing, Soon I was taking fire, An M8 had snuck out of the Spawn point and tried to kill me, but he was dispatched when I saw him trying to creep up on me.

Then the player spawned another M8 from the other spawn point, and drove right up on me without me even seeing him, He knocked out my turret after 5 or 6 hits, and I tried to make a break for it with 11 kills. I tried to turn around, but there he was just parked there, So I jumped to the Hull Gun and let loose, It worked! He took off, and so did I, but he realized this and turned around and followed. He must have hit me 20-30 times before he killed me.

Thats why I love Ground Vehicles...
