Fruda's Sound Pack v2.0 Progress
« on: September 03, 2004, 02:45:34 AM »
It's taken hours upon hours of editing and flight testing, but I'm almost halfway done! So far, I've gotten these completed...

The 109 series, the 110 series, the 190 series (including Ta-152H), the A6M series, the B-17, the Corsair series,
the Ju-88, the Ki-61, the P-40 series, the P-51 series, the Spitfire series (including the Seadire II), and the Typhoon/Tempest.

It's rolling along very smoothly. All plane sounds are real plane sounds (except for some gun sounds --- can't really find many of those). I also have some real US 50cal M2 sounds, along with British 303's.

This is going to be one hell of a pack. I'll post more updates tomorrow.

This pack will be dedicated to Mjollnir, who recently passed on. Mjollnir.

Lancaster III completed... It's a very tiring process to complete a bomber's sounds. Taking off just to hear the landing gear sound is a pain in the ass, because it takes almost a minute to do so.

More updates tomorrow.

I meant to post this yesterday, but anyway...

I've finished a lot. Among the newly finished planes are the Avenger and the Macchi series. I've also edited engstart files so they won't run over the threshold (7.557 seconds). Needless to say, it really improves the startup sequences.

I'll have more updates in an hour or two.

De-crackled and cleaned up a lot of sounds. Also finished the B-26B and the Boston III.

I'll post more updates as soon as I do more work on the pack.

One thing's for sure --- This pack will be huge.

Fruda, for all the work.

i have some questions.

i am using waffle's pack right now personally because i like a few of the sounds.

that's waffle;s by name only

i am using some of mitsu's bomb sounds and gun sounds, some of HTC's default sounds, some of your engine and gear sounds,

actually the only thing left from waffle's is the allied planes i never care to fly.

my biggest concern is the sound quality and bass rumble.

i live in an APT (an upper) and some of the sounds out there have such a "rumble" compared to others i can't use them

my other concern is the size of the folder. right now my "sounds" folder is like almost 100mb. thats HUGE and taxing on a lower processor (XP1800 with SB live 1 card NOT audigy II)

would you consider making 2 versions of the pack?

1 being the high quality sounds, and another with like 8bit like mitsu's for us that dont have tons of resources to spare.

ty again and i hope you consider it. it isnt that hard to save the files in a lower sample rate for a seperate release.
I don't know what to put here yet.

No problem. I have Cool Edit Pro 2, so I can make a pack of the sounds folder and downsample.

It takes about 30 minutes, but I'll do it.

I'll have to host the low quality version on a mirror site.

Ok, I've finished all the plane sounds. All I have left is the enhancement of the vehicle and misc sounds.

I'll also see what I can do about enhancing the engstart sounds on the planes.

would you like it?

it is a 190 radial eng flyby, sounds rgeat, but ther eis dopplar.

i "snipped" a 1.2 sec smooth sound in windows sound recorder LOL

i figured if you could get 1-2 seconds out of it you could dub it again at the end to make a 4 second eng sound.
I don't know what to put here yet.

I already have all real engine sounds, so no... I don't need another 190 radial.

All I have to do now is smooth the engstart wav files, and enhance the GV and Misc sounds.

You're really gonna like this pack. I know that only a few people actually like mine (dunno why so few do), but you'll get the most per kilobyte out of this pack.

I'll be doing updates (like on the first pack) if I get better source material for my misc sounds.

Don't be expecting them, because I've yet to find anything better than what I already have.

Ok, all GV/Boat sounds complete.

Please note that I still have a few days to go on this pack.

Remember that I'm currently smoothing the engine start files. Also remember that I'll have to normalize the gear/flaps.

After I do those things, this pack should be complete.
