No, same for tornadoes.

We in California have these little events called earthquakes to worry about.

As a rule no. The weather patterns are not favorable, but it is possible.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

My sister rode out Hugo. The eye passed 20 miles from their house in Bethune, S.C. She said that was the most frightening night of her life. The walls of the house were warping, the front door was bending and the house was making some very strange moans from the wind stress. She said NEVAR AGAIN and now lives in North Texas.

Hurricanes FORM off of the coast of N. America and Africa then generally travel to the NW.  In the Pacific a Hurricane is called a Typhoon

California has plenty to worry about with Earthquakes, Diane Feinstein and the City of San Francisco.  they don't need any other disasters.
