Can we have flaps at all speeds?

Sort of like the Stall Limiter, it could be turned on and off.  Because sometimes, even at the risk of jamming my flaps, I need to flip the suckers on.

Good answere capt.

Wouldn't be "at risk", they would be damaged at the speed they retract now.I.E. they would not be any more usefull.

I'm not talking about kicking the whole thing down, Just like one notch of flaps for a short period of time.

There are those that argue that when flaps are already deployed and the max air speed for the flaps is surpassed, they should jam and not retract.

You are asking for something that is totally beyond the realm of realism. You want to mechanically extent the flaps when the current air speed would not physically allow flaps to extend.

What situation is there that one could benefit from this request ? I can't think of one.

Only use I can think of is to jam them on at 450mph, 100ft out from threshold for a wheels up touch-down, ripping off both wings (and so cunningly making a smaller target) as you rudder stear through the hail of kill-frenzied lead from the vulch, lose the rear of fuselage, scramble out from the wreck and walk away from yet another "successful landing".

Oh, Dear Cod, I'm in at least limited agreement with Hitech.  The end is certainly near.:rofl

I do not like the autoretract in the least. However, the ability to extend even one notch of any sort of flaps at a speed outside their design parameter is not acceptable. It would be far worse than even autoretract. I still prefer possible damage as opposed to autoretract.

Some planes, such as the p51 DO have maneuver flaps that can be deployed at high speeds.

I'm with the others, just WHEN do you feel at 450kias that you need flaps?  What purpose do you feel they would have??

Extra lift and to slow down a little.  I'm not saying I'm going to kick flaps out just whenever, this is a "Oh snap there are 20 rook la7's on me" situation.

If your aircraft could not lower flaps at that speed in reality why do you want it to be able to in AH?
