Out of an earlier thread came an idea I think deserves some consideration and thought.  Since it was lost in the middle of a general "ENY is good" vs "ENY is bad" thread, I thought I'd post it separately.

Air Warrior had this. Kill the aircraft factory, no more spitfires were available. You could do something similar with the ENY. Kill one factory, planes with ENY lower then X are no longer available. Kill a second plane factory, planes with ENY lower than Y are no longer available. Or it could be zone specific; kill the zone's aircraft factory and planes below a certain ENY would no longer be available in that zone. I think it would be more popular than the current ENY system, it would give strategic bombing real importance (assuming the factory was deep and hard enough to destroy that a few suicide JABOs couldn't do it), and it would be a big incentive for teams to actively defend at least one of their factories.

It would be counter productive to the ENY based plane limiting side balace mechanism.  The high number country would just eliminate the higher ENY units from the other two countries.

i agree.

i could see it now!

rook sundays and the knights can only up stuka's because all of our factory's are leveled:(

or we spend the entire night defending factories, like we used to have to spend defending hq.

That might be a great way to implement a variable regeneration time...  The arena balance would determine how quickly the aircraft factories rebuild.  This would force the high-number country to actually defend their factories if they wanted to keep flying the better planes, and it would give the outnumbered countries a target to go for that doesn't involve endless futile airfield attacks.

An outnumbered country's airfield factories could regen more quickly, so it would take a large number of very determined players to keep one country from flying the better planes, leaving them open to losing fields.

It's better than variable ack lethality and building hardness IMHO...

This is a good idea but not to be implemented into the MA.

90% of the players who log into the MA log in to have fun. They log in to be able to fly.

As much as I hate not being able to fly my 38 when our numbers are up. At the same time I also get to pick a plane that I normaly wouldnt fly. Because of the eny system that HT placed into the game. I am now flying 109s and such that normaly I wouldnt fly. This is a good thing over all. You get to learn other planes and at the same time still have your fun.

You CAN have your cake and eat it too. It just might not be the cake you wanted.

In the end, when all is said and done, the game is really about fun. The fun part comes from what you make of the game. There were many nights that I spent with out radar, with out fuel, with out any sort of an advantage at all. But the fun comes from being able to over come those odds just a little bit. Just enough so that you can get a good fight in and maybe get a kill or two along the way.

If anything, this system might be better implemented into TOD. But thats a stretch at best.
