I want to see how the USA would stand up to the bowling of Ashley Giles. :D

lol..

Fast seam bowlers are terrifying.  I had the wind completely knocked out of me and badly bruised chest after taking a ball off the edge of my bat attempting to hook a bouncer more of a short pitched ball than an actual bouncer in retrospect.   I thought I was going to die.  I admit that I became a much more nervous batsman from that moment on.

I know nothing about the game. Can you compair the score in basketball terms? as in we lost about 105 - 60 if it were basketball?

In the one-day format, you pretty much can. Final score was NZ: 347, USA 137. Ouch.

OTOH theres "real" Cricket - Test Matches which take FIVE days to play, and in the end you might not even have a meaningful result! :D

Cricket is just an excuse to get drunk on lazy summer afternoons.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Pei, it wouldn't be worth it to hold a genuine 'world series' after the MLB WS. the professional mlb teams would embarrass any competition.

for all intents and purposes, the winner of the world series really is world champion. (unless you think a team like cuba could beat stl or bos)

Really?  You mean like in basketball too right?  No-one can possibly defeat the mighty Americans in that game.  The winner of that championship is also referred to as "World Champions".

Well, we  lost only one game in our our entire Olympic history until now.

And we probably would never lose again if we just fielded a real team  ( like the NBA champs for instance) instead of throwing one together real quick.

I don't know about baseball though.

That certainly used to be the case, especially in England, when a match might be blighted by bad weather. In that case, the side that should have won might not have had enough time to win. But the new style of doing things seems to be to play a certain minimum number of overs each day, regardless of what time play finishes - assuming there's enough light, of course.
