So you want to land those kills???

I've read several posts on how little organization there is at times. There have been many complaints about the incessant furballing. Well here's a solution that will work for many I hope.

Many pilots like myself are only fair to middling when it comes to flying. We can't make those birds turn on their tails in 2 seconds or do an inverted shot on an enemy plane. So basically our survivability is very low. We might avg 1 kill per sortie or death if we're lucky. My solution... join the missions being set up. Alot of the missions I've seen require a large number of fighters as well as bombers. There is safety in numbers. By joining in you increase your chances of living already (unless your a buff  ) j/k.

Now granted with the large number of fighters kills might be a little hard to come by, but with a little practice you'll get the kills. Also, who knows.. you might even enjoy the immersive quality of being in a mission. Just think of the tension when the flight of buffs you are escorting come under attack and you know that it's your job to protect them from swarming 190's and 109's. (And f4u's but we can assume that.) My hands have come away sweaty many a time filling this role.

Hopefully you get my point.. if not I'm sorry, but I don't like to write much   By joining in those missions you A)increase survivability B) Help forward your countries strategic objectives C) immerse yourself into the environment as much as possible by filling a role of an actual pilot in WWII D) and who knows.. you might even pick up a wingy which is ALWAYS a good thing to have in the MA.

There is no doubt that there is safty in numbers.  I always stay with at least one other plane, but usually a nice clump <grin>.  I also try to take part in more organized battles where there is a clear objective and we all (or at least most of us) are working and comunicating to that goal.

1 plane alone WILL DIE, there is just no getting around it.  Eventually someone higher, better or both will come along and take you down.  Several planes lends itself not only to mutual protection, but that lone fighter at 20k is much less likely to persistantly engage a group of NME planes.  Sure they may dive through a few times, but they will not be able to effectively zero in on one plane and pick you appart (well thats the idea anyway).

All this pales in comparison to the huge increase in enjoyment when you play online with others towards a common goal.  That is what seperates games like AH from Quake and the like.  Although you can play teams in quake, you can also survive quite well alone without your teamates if your good.  In Aces High, even the best will seek out teamates to fly with...and that part of the reason they are the best.
