thats not the one with Robert Carlyle in it? the one that was on UK tva year or so ago, is it?

If so it is very good, Robert Carlyle pulls off Hitler's speeches and actions brilliantly.

It's terrible and a typical "Hollywood Hitler".

The best "Hitler" in a movie was played by Alec Guiness in the "Last Ten days"

There's a new German Movie about the last days in the Führer bunker.

Der Untergang

From the trailer it to seems like another Hollywood caricature rather then a real person. Maybe Hitler was really like that but to me it seems over the top especially when reading descriptions from his close associates.

I think in the long run, especially if the only impression folks have of Hitler comes from these types of films, betrays the historical record and makes it easy for people to rationalize away his true evil by seeing him as something less then a "real person".

I liked that show too (not sure I saw it all, the one I saw ended in 1935 ish). Of course I wasn't around in the 30's to compare him with the real Hitler ;)

'Der Untergang' looks to be based on the info from Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge.  The documentary Blind Spot  about her life was very moving and well done.

Have you actually seen it?

I didn't even realise it was Hollywood Hitler.  Hitler actually came across a lot better than I ever anticipated and his actual basic belief was something most could identify with (especially in the UK when many assylum seekers are being admitted after being kicked out of every other country in Europe).  Obviously it showed him slightly unhinged but I found it very interesting considering the lack of 'drama' material around regarding Hitler.

I posted a thread about the new film "The Downfall", Anyway, the way news is reporting on it, it seems very controversial.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I thought it was rather hollywoodish as well.  Too dramatic, not enough accuracy.  And I also couldn't get past a Hitler with a British accent.  ;)
