Film Viewer Issue
« on: September 19, 2004, 11:33:57 AM »
I've recorded and downloaded a few films.  When I try to view them in AH Film Viewer it gives me the error message:

Invalid or old format film.

These films work on other people's comps.  The film I recorded I sent to my brother and it worked fine.

Let me know what I gotta do.

                                               Thanks

The viewer used through 'start-programs' is vastly better than the ingame one. It also seems to work better if you start the viewer and then open the film, opposed to opening it by double clicking a film itself. If using a shortcut, make sure it points to the appropriate viewer. AH1 and early AH2 films, before the AH2 was officially active, wont work in the current AH2 viewer. AH1 films need the AH1 viewer. I'm not even sure if the AH2 early films can be used in either viewer.

Thank you. I was able to watch the film.

I tried to save part of it as a .avi but was unable.  I made a selection and clicked save as .avi.  It says "D3DERR_INVALIDCALL"  just after res and FPS selection.  I click OK and it fast forwards to my selection with audio but no visual then brings up the codec select prompt.  I leave it as uncompressed and it runs through my selection.  It stops at the end and loops the last second of sound.  I have to force quit the program at this point.

Read the AH Film Viewer help file. That's where I'd go to see the correct procedure for doing any of that stuff. Personally, I've never tried changing formats and doing what you are attempting to do so it's theoretical info and not practical from experience.

Hi guys,

I think could be a very nice stuff to permit the padlock inside the film viewer because if this stuff is just functioning I don't know how it does.

Bye
