Man, the ego thing...
« on: October 14, 2000, 01:29:00 AM »
I just dont understand this'I MUST win at all costs' even if it drives me to bad sportsmanship thing.'
Have seen more and more recently an obviously veteran pilot offline resorting to 'unsporting' methods to roll up the kill tally for all to see.
If you need your name in lights that bad...
Have witnessed this same ugly trait in a ladder duel in the past that has ended my desire to participate in such.
Guys,it is OK to lose a fight, a plane, a challenge by another human being be it in real life or simulation.Be 'strong in your spot'.No need to get angry or vehement if you are bettered in a fight...I just don't get it,but it is sure an ugly thing and saps my fun.

     Bemused,

I noticed the other post by by-tor and easymo and i'm not referring to this incident because I know nothing about it and from my experience with both of them..this is just a "fog of war" thing.

In an H2H Session:
Unsportsmanlike conduct (lol sounds like hockey..) is easy to deal with.
-Make sure everyone know the host rules.
-Simply warn and ultimately boot the offender.

It is also possible to log and ultimately ban  specific I.P. adresses from ever joining your host. (mega-squelch   )
Just use a firewall like the free Zone Alarm.

I have noticed some hosts use their name in the session name. This helps me decide if the session is one that is "managed" correctly.
(arena settings and type of "attitude")
The host makes a big difference in the session IMO. After a while you get to know who the hosts, you find worthwhile to join are, especially if they post their ID in the host name.

In the MA:
This would be harder to manage. It's up to the community and HTC to minimize this.
But Hey... I can't justifiably comment on this more since I can't afford to fly in the MA at present.

Regards,
Snoopi

By Tor,

In MA if you lose you might not get your "perk" plane. Then you would pass up having even more of an advantage over other players?????

Mav
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
