Wow, I never thought this day would come.

I agree with RAM.  <looks up to see if the sky is falling>  (Just kidding with you RAM.  )

I think "FreezeShooter" is a great idea.  However, I'm not sure how much work it would be to implement such a thing.  I recommend posting this idea in the Gameplay Feedback forum.  It's the only viable alternative I've heard of to KillShooter.

You know one night last tour, I actually shot myself down THREE times.  In one night!  I'd be lined up hosing away behind a bogey in my Jug and WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM.  Somebody pops up in front of me and I'm dead.  The worst thing was that I was on this total hot streak.  I got like 15 kills in a few sorties, and the only person to shoot me down all night was ME!  Ahhhhh.  D'oh.

The problem is that with netlag, it doesn't always look to your teammate that he flew in front of you.  On his FE he may have been just flying off your wing or slightly behind watching.  My gut reaction when this happens is to get pissed at my countrymate, but it's not usually something he did on purpose, and it is sometimes totally out of his control with lag factored in.  It would be a great solution if I just froze in place for a few seconds instead of killing myself.

The "freezeshooter" idea seems way too arcade for me.

I agree Deja. Never ever seen a plane "freeze" and we aren't flying the VTOLs either.

Anyone that has not experienced a sim without killshooter need only the TA FFA. That pretty much sums it up...

OK you get frozen, enemy flys by seeing frozen plane whats he gonna do ?
Cant shoot you cos your frozen outa the game, so on he flies 2 seconds later your back in the game and Hey would you believe it your right on the 6 of a con !
5 seconds later he's a flaming torch and the chat buffer lights up with a torrent of abuse about freezing cheats.
BBS is polluted for days afterwards with accusations of cheating and calls to bring back the good old killshooter days.
It could make RAMS posts about rear firing guns on tiffies look like nursery school stuff.

Having seen RAMS already reading this thread i better add this

Having made the obligatory mention of RAM in connection with BBS pollution I would like to say i had more reason than most to be pissed with RAM because when i joined AH He started a huge thread attacking my style of fighting with the OLD Tiffie and calling me a dweeb etc.
Now after a few weeks where i had ample opportunity to show that i could take him on and beat him the easy option would have been to ignore me and forget it but RAM emailed me apologised and said he was wrong.
It saddens me to see so many people hound him relentlessly everytime he sticks his head over the parapet, sure he openly states his opinion and like many others i think he's wrong a lot of the time, more so in the way he puts it   but unlike many others i can recognise he still is entitled to freedom of speech.
RAM i hope you still have fun under whatever name you choose, and your doing a good job trying to stop the automatic i MUST make another reply syndrome

Why not just make it so if you shoot a friendly, the rounds just dont do damage to anyone.

Its not like killshooter is that realistic anyways.

I am simply tired of shooting a bandit and some idiot flying THRU me and getting in FRONT of me.

Hrmm...gotta chirp in here.

The 'freezeshoter' referred to (WWIIOL) would not cause the air craft to 'freeze' in midair, that is ridicolous. The 'freeze' would be put on the guns/cannons of the offending air craft, causing a weapons jam for x minutes.

Thank you.

Gotta go with animal on this one. I always thought this would be the best way to handle it. Netlag makes the other options questionable. It takes no more then a glance back to see if its a friendly shooting, or not.

That's what I was going to suggest, Animal.  The traitors can hose you down all day with no effect, and you'll never kill yourself when someone cuts in front of you.  This way it could also lend itself to duels where you can score hits without bringing anyone down in order to perfect your ACM.

I like killshooter the way it is.  It prevents dorks from switching countries and fragging people.  It helps to keep guys from taking long range shots on the con your tracking.  I really don't like the idea of no damage occuring to anyone, because you shouldn't be firing when your country mate flies in front of you...even if he is being an idiot.

The few times that I've been killed by killshooter when someone flew in front of me, I had at at least a few seconds before hand where I knew it was probably going to happen.  I just kept firing, hoping it wouldn't.

I agree that "FreezeSHooter" would be ending up as a cheat for squadies. If the situation called for it, one squadmate could "Timefire" at the other squadmate to freeze and get position on a bandit. Now that is lame.

Midnight - see Jammoer's post. Apparently the "freeze" is only of the guns.

People should read the posts.
