Explain to me why it is necessary to drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time?  Are people that important now that they need to be contacted while driving?  I really don't see the necessity of it.  I am just trying to get a grip on why people do it?  Like today... I get off the highway... stop, look, and start to move... then BOOM right in the back end of me....  and why was I hit... because someone was on their cell phone...

Sorry for putting this out there, but I would really like to know the reason why?

Beats me, I saw a guy in a truck TRYING to talk on the cell phone, eat a hoagie, drive AND SHIFT, on a 12 lane highway. I was going to get my camera out and take a photo, but then I would be just as guilty.

Ugh.

I almost got hit several times when I'm driving around the highway and I just hate that, i mean many people use cell phone while they drive then BOOM!

Because why? They are stupid.  They could have pull over the road, then turn off their vehicle and finally they can call without driving.

I may just mount a dash cam and record one day's driving here.  Most folks would be amazed.  I drive about 150-200 miles per day some days within dade and broward counties

That is one reason that when I have to take a call on my cell phone I pull off the road. Its also a good thing my cell phone has a speakerphone capability so I can keep my hands on the important things in the car instead of the damn phone.

Well, here in Finland talking to a mobile phone while driving is illegal as well, unless a hands-free device is used.

I don't see a problem talking to phone using a HF device, I do it all the time especially on long trips.

I watched a show last nite about car crashes in the US, I don't know how current the show was, but they gave a statistic at that time that said "6% of all auto accidents in the US were 'cell phone' related". I'm not sure but thats probably a signifcant number of accidents.

We want "instant gratification" we want to make a phone call anywhere anytime. If we're hungry we pull into a  drive through and get "fast food" .We want to get into a "good fight" in AH as soon as we can( Anyway I do :)) When we want something, we want it now. Our society seems to be so busy getting what we want right now that we forget the possible consquences of our "target fixation"

I'm prolly full-o-crap, but thats my take on it.
