Hi,

Since we are now full time RV'ers we move around a bit. To date, 19 states since June. I am still using my table top computer and had something new happen.

When I put the thing together after stopping and booted up I saw the monito has a rather disturbing green cast to it. Almost like it got car sick. :) The picture is clear but the colors aree definately green distorted. I've confirmed it is not the monitor. Does this sound like the vid card going south? I have an ATI All in wonder 128 meg card. The fan is going and the card is seated properly. All other functions normal.

Let me know hat you think about the problem. Thanks in advance.

You may think its a dumb question but have you checked the monitor with a different cable between it and the video card? Also have you checked it out with a different monitor? Lastly have you been able to slide a new video card into the computer to see if that might be the problem? If not it might be a good excuse to go get one at the nearest store and say "Honey, we had to have a new video card. You saw how the other one was distorting the monitor so I bought a new monitor also."

At least logic like that always messes with my wife so she goes for it. :D

Hehehe The logic sounds ok but she saw me test the monitor with a laptop we have and it was fine. Besides I want to push for a new system, not a monitor.

This is definately a vid card problem I suppose. Yesterday it did come back and looked fine on bootup. Then I shut down and we drove to another state (Arkansas) and I set up in the evening. It was green again. It's green again this morning too so it's still car sick, sigh.

im wondering if its getting lose or the bouncing around has it losening up its connection in the agp slot ??

perhaps try laying your stack on its side and reinstall the card . boot it up while its still laying on its side and see if the problem clears up again .

I had the problem once, and it was as Roo suggested.

Except this was in a PC. I used to have it underneath the desk, which happened to be right between my legs. And sometimes if I had the chair too close to the computer, and I turned the chair around it would knock it over.

Anyway, one time apparently it knocked it over and loosened up the vid card.

I didn't get a green color, I would get "little glitches" (at lack of no better words)

Example: In windows, pieces of my desktop and icons would be fuzzed out.

After taking out and reseating the vid card. Everything worked fine.

I have since moved the computer on top of the desk, so I can't knock it over anymore. :)
