In 1987 Congress didnt give the AF enough money for their payroll. (At least this is what we were told). Anyone who's separation date was Sept 30 or sooner was told they had till May 15 to either reenlist or be discharged. My separation date was Sept 29 heh.  We were told this in Feb of 87. I opted for the early out. So no, I wasnt AWAL ;)

Missed the other thread about this.

Was commissioned in Dec 75 , MP's. Went Armor about 6 months later, 8th Bn 40th Armor. Stayed there for 10 years then did several instructing positions in a USAR school as well as the usual staff puke jobs. Retired from the reserves in May 2004.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I drank beers and had sex with women who took my money in the Corp.

Oh yeah, I blew stup up in between the beers and the potatos.

Wait...we shot stuff also.  Yeah, don't forget that part oo.

And I remember...wait, no I don't remember that.  Nevermind.
