I thought the strangest comment I got after shooting down somebody was something to the effect of
"that was terrible..a better pilot would of killed me a lot sooner...". I guess I was supposed to be
                       ashamed of myself.

Hehe.  I think I've pulled a variation on that one myself msnu times.
It happens.  Often I'll have this incredible, drawn-out 1-on-1 with some unknown adversaary, with many changes of advantage, incredible ACM and the like.  Then I whack him and I recognize him as a rank newbie whose maneuver reportoire consists of trying to turn into his adversary regardless of the situation.
So I think. "Man I flew terribly. I shoulda kilt him a lot sooner."
But charity in the end prevails.

my girlfreind summed it up . i was explaining how i used to love this game and how it has really become alot less fun . she asked why i responded with a explanation of the hogc\flack\weird flight model situation. she said ohh they are going for a wider audience by copying crimson skys. ( flight sim with silly planes with super cannons ) to attract a wider crowd. ( at 30 bucks a head ?)

was talking to pollock on rw for the first time in forever, almost the whole squad has left the game . and im out this month . htc had succeded in making a great game boring as hell. sorry if i get mad but i really used to love this game .

When I shoot someone down and he proceeds to yell at me in the text buffer, I consider it to be a job well done.

Sometimes I use my macro as a reply:

"Another satisfied customer"

Usually they get even more angry

In all honesty, getting shot down IS frustrating, and I will often yell various things at my computer--but I never, ever, type garbage on channel 1.

Just a stupid story...

Most people know I don't fly around squeakin' about stuff. But on the weekend I had this engagement with a Tiffy, and he was warpin' all over the place, 1-2k at a time. I finally broke the fight off and left. A few minutes later he comes back, we make one pass, rev, and come back at each other. Again during that merge, he was warping badly. I decided to take my chances in a HO, as a forward warp would at least give me a better chance than warping to the side (it was doubtful he woulda let me get away again).

I got killed. No biggie. Then I made a *huge* mistake. I asked him to check his connection. What I got back was a solid two minute barrage of "Ha ha I love how better pilots always complain when they die!", "Always an excuse!" and on and on.

Now, when someone mentions a problem with my connection, I relog and come back.  Even when I believe fairly strongly that the connection problem isn't on my end. It used to be just courtesy here. I mean, it's just stupid trying to pin down a warpin' plane. It turns into some kinda game.

I guess the point I'm making is that all of the incessant whining on channel one has created a "cry wolf" situation... where ya got guys so defensive now that they simply refuse to believe *anything* if it seems like just another whine.

Actually Nash.. for that very reason, I don't ask someone to relog if he's just shot me down.  I'll only do it if I killed them.
