the concept of a free global economy has its perks, doesn't it.

If american doctors think they have the market on heart surgery cornered, well....they appear to have another thing coming.

Let free markets dictate on fair terms.

Sure, why not?  If the CEO's can piss on the American worker by sending jobs to cheaper labor in other countries, the American people should be able to do the same.

Of course, the Republicans won't like seeing the tables turned on their rich little medical constituents.

you don't have to leave the country to get a foreign doctor, half the docs in my HMO are named Patel.

however, there OUGHT to be some effort to learn English if you live & work in America.

the same would be true - regarding Spanish - if you moved to Peru, Spain, wherever.

Hospitals are importing a lot of nurses from the filipines and pakistan on work visas because they are able to pay them less than americans.
I don't really have a problem with it, but like a lot of MDs their english is difficult to understand over the telephone.
