Another question for 190 pilots
« on: October 07, 2004, 02:07:01 PM »
With the new ENY system stopping me from flying what I want to, I have been searching for a new main ride.

I have kind of settled on the 190A8.  Mainly because of it's firepower, and the ability to roll quickly and put that firepower to use.  So far this month I am 44k and 5d with that puppy. :)

I was under the impression that the 190A8 turned better than the Dora, at least to me it seems a bit more nimble.  One of my squad mate told me the Dora outturns the A8.  I tried a Dora, and it wasn't able to roll and track shots that I'm sure I could have made with the A8.

Does the Dora outturn the A8?

Also, does anyone else think the ENY for the a8 should be closer to 30?

In RL, yes.

It had the same Wingloading and more horsepower.  Lengthing the fuselage also effected the turn radius in a positive way.  Not sure if this due to better "leverage" from the tail, CG shift, or some other factor.

The A8 with the lightest gun loadout handles a bit better Foder too.  The A5 is also a good ride.  Best flying for any Fw is in a B&Z role at altitudes above 10000ft.

HTC has said that the 190s are all going to be re-modeled to fix problems with their flight characteristics.

I'm guessing in real life they do, but not in AH as it stands. Perhaps once they are fixed. (2.01??)

I really chose the A8 because of it's firepower with 4 cannons and 2 5 cals.  It also seems to ride smoother than a Typhie.  But to follow your thread, what gun loadout would you recommend? :)

I tend to fly in the 9k - 12k range, with 10k being where you will normally find me on the way to a fight.  It seems to be a good tradeoff between alt and being able to effectively engage low targets.

During a fight I tend to stay above 4-6 k above the fight, and cherry pick.  ;)

I find that any fight that lasts more than 30 seconds is going to end up with me being the target. :D

In RL the FW-190 was an Air Superiority Fighter and got in close to dogfight.

I am hoping after Pyro redoes the Flight Model it will better reflect this.

I hope that the 190 FM is looked at.  From my limited readings, I was lead to understand that the FW190 was a kik-butt plane that gave better than it got.

I don't fly the Dora because I can't seem to hit anything with it. Same guns as the A8 (just not as many), but... not sure why I can't hit anything, most of my shooting is done with the bogeys icon reading D200.
