heck... detail work not my forte...

Have been busy this summer with stuff that I have been neglecting and family stuff etc...

thing is.... A perfectlyu good Healey sits in the garage in flat black paint and a thick layer of dust..

the body work is terrible... a 30 foot car (looks ok from 30')

Brushed off the dust and checked the tires... low on air (magnessium don't seal all that great)... put in the key and the fan came on... 10 volts... enough to fire... pumped the gas on the 760 double pumper and the motor turned ove once and 11.5 to one pistons fired the mix.... flowmastes rumbling at 2 grand till it warmed up and I slipped the hurst linkage stired muncie into reverse...

motor still felt crisp... blip the throttle and instant response... ito the street and into first.   slip the clutch and both tires slide a touch and off... hit a back road and punch it..  

Damn... forgot how hard this thing pulls.

too bad about the body work tho.

Hell bondo, duct tape and sledgehammers can fix almost all bodywork problems. :D

STOP! Before you go slapping Bondo everywhere, a couple questions. What is the year model? Is it is a classic and you want to salvage some sort of authenticity? If so, check into lead filling.

In the stone ages of body work before Bondo, lead filling (actually a type of solder) was used for repair. Trust me, it will add big $$$ to the resale value and is relatively simple to do yourself. Or you can smear Bondo all over it and head to Earl Scheib's.

We do 600+ cars a year and have never had one car come back with a problem with body filler.

Bondo doesn't work well with alumimun either.

Bondo, if used correctly, is an excellent filler for body work.  It really got a bad rap when backyard hackers used to slap it on an inch think over their latest dent.  The key is preparation so you use as little as possible.

some of the filler I used 30 years ago on the car is still hanging in there...  I was not that picky on the prep either back then and some of it is way thicker than prudent.

The body was pretty beat up from being a race car and I really needed to do a lot more prep work... just lazy and more into mechanicals I guess.
