Hey,

I just saw a post by you over at RC Universe about covering RC planes.  I agree, it is a pain in the ass.  I am currently recovering a Goldberg Ultimate and getting it back into flight shape.  New engine, covering job (one that looks semi-decent), landing gear (the original wire gear is crap), cowl, etc.  I will post a pic or two once I get it close to being ready to fly again.

How long have you been flying RC?  I started back when I was about 13 and flew until I went to college.  Flew for a couple years after school, but have been away for a few.

Always cool seeing someone else interested in this pit of endless expenses.

Holy Smokes!  I only seen this post now, Math!

I dont cruise the AH BBS as much anymore.  We have already communicated thru the RCU BBS.

My flying season is over for the year!  :(
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Wasn't it Sirloin who had the RC F4U?  Man that thing was beautiful.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Hey guys!...Yeah I crashed that F4u some time ago but I'm building that kit again(4'th time with that Top Flite kit..)..This time I'm going to use british markings to be different.

I started R/C in high school after flying control line homebulits and free flight planes, most of which flew away on me(or got stuck in trees..which then of course brought out the brigade of stone throwers)

I bought a Sig Cadet built by some guy in grade 9 who didn't think he could fly it(I talked him outta such a foolish attempt and got a good price on it)...I bought a used 3 channel MRC AM radio, figured out how to get the Super Tiger 35 to scream(best engine I ever had)...With no stick time I just pointed it into the wind and she took off straight and true..I almost lost it a couple of times as I figured out that ailerons are reverse input on the stick when the plane flies towards you(point the stick to the dipping wing..Damnitt!!)...Flew it till I ran outta gas and glided it down flying away...it landed in one piece about a mile away from me,rolled and bounced off some guys back yard fence...That was my first experience of "piloting" and been hooked ever since..:)

By grade ten there was 3 of us who would go flying at lunch time or after school..used to store wings/fuselage/flight box in lockers..some thought us weirdo-geeks...used to bring Tx and Rx into class and plug into wall to charge(no wonder girls wouldn't go near me)..even had a bomb hatch on my Cessena 172 that would drop eggs and make a nice hole in the ground.

Went to college(Aircraft Maintenance) and we started an R/C club there...Someone drew up a constitution and we got funding from the govt that paid for a radio and CG Eaglet which about 10 of us built and eventually got flying.

Currently I got a float Beaver,Piney Bipe,2 meter sailplane(w OS 10 engine) and a 40 size Ugly Stik which I'm puttin together for a squaddie..(yeah..I'm gonna get around to it for next spring Ted..:)..)

Thinkin next year about goin electric power..there are so many great fly outta the box electrics out now that building now seems so time consuming...Everyone at my club seems to have one of those electric Strykers..add a brushless motor and the R/C combat lazer guns(which disables the other planes motor for a few seconds)..It looks like great fun!..Midair collisions etc..what a hoot!..and you can store it in your car and charge it off you car battery so if you ever see a nice flying spot while yer drivin ya can whip it out and break up a long boring drive into several mini airshoes..

blah blah blah..can't sleep tonight..hehe!
