I've been comming to Luxemburg over the past three weeks now for this new job, the hours are pretty long, but I like it so far.
Being a freelance, I am used to work from home most of the time, and usualy meet up with the customers a couple of times on a project... big change now, I'm working "indoors" in an office in a large building... where no smoking signs are being put every 5 centimeters along my path. Being a heavy smoker, I needed to cut down (there is a smoking room in the building, but it's pretty far..and a lot of fuss if I want to go in & out since I work in a "securised area"(sp?))... I decided for the 1st time in my life to try & cut down the smoking by instead chewing gum. (I am not going to use those patches, I'm very sensitive to medicine... most of them make me stomach sick).
So, I go out and buy those "X-it" mints that I've been chewing all day long everyday for three weeks. I have a great breath, the secretaries are impressed.(I hope)
As I said, work hours are aplenty, and I often find myself going back to the hotel at past 10pm, have a quick dinner, watch french television (barf!) and try go to sleep. There lies the problem, over time, Its been harder & harder for me to sleep... I think i've done an average 3 hours sleep at night over the last couple of weeks... not enough. I put it on stress, too much coke & coffee... whatever.
Yesterday, for the first time, I'm fiddling with the "X-it" box (what did those manufacturers think... small metal boxes, very hard to open if you bite your nails like I do) ... and I read for the 1st time what is written in very small character on the box:
X-it
100 Ice mints with garana
sugar free
Do not feed to children
HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
