ground attack
« on: October 09, 2004, 07:15:41 AM »
I  like  hiting ground targets  because  i suck at  air  to air.
can  we  have  more  convoys   and trains  to hit    and  bridges  to  destroy  slowing resupply?.
have  rivers  with  bridges  that  can be destroyed  then  need  supplies  to be rebuilt. this could  slow a  ground  attack  also  slow resupply  to that  base  and  ad  more  varitay  to  the game.
I like  bombers  but  there  are  just  not  enough  stratigic  tgts   to  make them  worth  the  long  flight.

ok  so now  some  will  wine  learn  to  fly  air  to air  combat:rofl
but  everyone  finds  pleasure  in this game  doing iffernt  things

i was thinking the other day about instead of having ammo fuel allways in supl

how about have it so ever small base starts with say 100000ibs of ords and evertime some one takes say a P51D with 2 1000ibs they now have taken 2k ords out of this base and its now at 98000ibs

and the resupl trucks would restock the base with ever truck bringing 10k of ords from the factory  and the factorys would make the ords then ship it by truck to restock the base

the same thing could work for fuel if you wanted it that way

this brings

players that try to take up lancasters over and over to sink a CV would run the base out of ords and would have to wait for the supl trucks to restock it

destorying Factorys now brings alot of outcome because it slows down how many ords that factory can make to ship to airfields in its zone the only way you could fully stop the factory from making ords would be bombing it to 0% otherwise its going to make some ords

and the trucks now are bigger targets because destorying the supl trucks would stop ords coming in whatsoever WW2 was not only about bombing factorys but P47s and planes of the like hunting supl convoys

and now C47s do not repair bases instead they bring ether ords troops fuel to a base to ether drop or land to restock the base if it needs more

how to handle base porking well i cant see it working with this so i would get rid of troop porking fuel porking ord porking but still keep hangers and the sort a target   but now the jabos ether go for hangers or go for town and the  porkers will have to go after supl convoys if they want to effect the airfield   but the airfield of course would have to being used etherwise its just going to use its  stock because nobody would be using it so destorying convoys to bases not being used would have pretty much no effect on it

i think it could work with some tweeking

Another possibility would be to keep the pork targets, but make the number of convoys that successfully reach the base effect the 'hardness' of the pork targets.

Say they have a default 100% hardness, and say a convoy usually arrives every 10 minutes. Say that convoy repairs the hardness of the pork targets by 10% every time it arrives safely.
Pork targets would likely need their base hardness upgraded to make this work, but the theory is, in order for someone to pork a base completely for more than 10 minutes, they would first need to bomb out the targets on the airfield, THEN go out and hit every single convoy that is dispatched to prevent even soft, but still usable, troops ammo and extra fuel from coming up on the base again.

In this way,  a base can still be porked, but continued attention would be required to keep it that way.
