A prayer if you can, for and old pilot.

I drove home sick today. I saw a friend and patient of mine today who likely has developed cancer. He is  a retired USAF officer, pilot, and WWII veteran. He used to fly the P-38, B17, C47, and many others. He is a great guy. Fellas, please offer a prayer if you can.  Thanks, and I hope I'm wrong.

HIGH FLIGHT

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

of sun split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence - Hov'ring there

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue

I've topped the windswept heights, with easy grace

Where never lark nor ever eagle flew

And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God

John Gillespie Magee Jr.

Not too long ago, one of the P-38 pilots I know, Bill Safarik, lost his battle with cancer. I know several of those pilots, if you'd care to pass along his name in private, I can pass along his situation, so that any friends or possibly even old squad mates can learn of his condition, and perhaps get in touch.
