a jet out turning a spitfire?

One thing that suprises me about the D.H. Vampire is how tiny it is when standing next to it.  Would be an awesome killer in AH, 4 nose mounted hispano, good climb, range, very high service ceiling and 500+mph.  its a 1946 plane (prototype 43) though so its a non starter :(

I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

BEAUTIFUL
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
