I contributed to his campaign, but I'm afraid I can't vote for him because of the thin margin between Bush & Kerry.  I'd REALLY like to, though.

That's the defeatist attitude that Kerry and Bush are banking on. This is what the two party system has done to the national psyche, the elephant teathered with twine. Have some courage,  don't be a sheep. Vote for guy who you actually want to be president. That's how the system is supposed to work.

Imagine if all the voters who have the same sentiment as you really did "throw their vote away" on a third party candidate. That might even be enough votes to win, nevermind making the party stronger for 08.

In my opinion if I voted for Bush or Kerry I really would be throwing my vote away.

You live in California.  You could vote for anyone and Kerry is still going to take the state.

Hmmm... the one thing that gives pause is the notion that the U.S. should return to a gold standard.

I have a strong Libertarian streak, but the party itself seems to lean a bit too far towards the unabomber crowd. Too bad the old Republican party went out of vogue in the early 1990s -- I'd probably be a Republican today.

I heard him speak sometime, not an official public address or anything.  I got the impression of "You all are normal people, I am better than you" after listening to him.
