Here is the poll I was quoting.
Quote
Regardless of who you have or will vote for, who do you think will be the next President of the United States?   * 369880 responses

Pres. Bush 32%   Sen. Kerry 68%
This is in no way a scientific poll.

I'm not sure but think so. Something about influencing elections. People tend to not vote if their favorite has no chance of winning.

**AZ  CO  LA  PA  OH  FL  MI  NM  MN  WI  IA  NH
K  45  48  42  60  52   51  51  50   58  52  49  57
B  55  51  57  40  48   48  47  48   40  43  49  41

Hard to get the numbers to line up in here, but this shows Kerry winning Pa, Oh, and Fla if they are accurate. (numbers from Nash's source)

I've been thinking about what you said.... and yeah, of course I've been aware of that. It's not making me any friends here, that's for sure. In the immortal words of Geedub; "I know that."

A couple of things:

Nobody here has been saying what I've been saying. And that is that I think Kerry is not the lesser of two evils. I think he's a good man. I have the sneaking suspicion that the derision is due NOT to my having an opinion, but the content of it. It sticks out like a sore thumb 'round here.

But whaddya expect me to do? Say stuff I don't believe? Win friends and influence people instead? Come on... this aint a beauty contest. It's highly unlikely that we'll ever meet. And should we, politics would be the last thing we'd talk about. But alas, politcs reigns supreme on this BBS...

On a base psychological level, it stings when you hear something that is at odds with your beliefs. It's the reason why FOX is absolutely chalkboard scratchingly PAINFUL for me to watch. Thus I know it causes people, uhm , unease when I say things only a moron would think people here could get behind.

I aint asking nor expecting anyone to get behind me. I don't care about all that. But I aint gonna refrain from participating just 'cuz it's not the way that other people think.

When I say stuff, you can be assured that it aint regurgitated from some wild arsed freeper mass email spam. I've shrecked up, like when I called the CBS story a non-story. But generally, by the time it comes out of my mouth, it has been processed enough for me to be confident in it. And I think that's also missing from here.

Consider it my personal fatwa (or whatever ya spell it) against the rip-n-pastes.

Now, why do I have to say anything at all? Why even bother? Why piss Creamo off when I could just as easily talk about rockets?

Lemme quote one of my personal gods:

"The genetically vicious nature of presidential campaigns in America is too obvious to argue with, but some people call it fun, and I am one of them. Election Day - especially a presidential election - is always a wild and terrifying time for politics junkies, and I am one of those, too. We look forward to major election days like sex addicts look forward to orgies. We are slaves to it"

- Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

So hey, I dig politics. Busted. I mean, I really do. Fear and Loathing... I love that chit. So? It just turns out that my opinion collides with everyone else's. Either agree with it, reject it, or skip it. What would be the point of playing dumb? Just say what ya mean, and know what ya say, and let the chips fall where they may.

I like to think I've got some perspective. We're playing wonks on a BBS. Yet I know fer DAMN sure that if I and Lazs, Martlet, Eagler, Nuke, Creamo etc. ever met, we'd get along just great.

There's no real reason to get personal and nasty about it. There's no reason to take it like that.

Hey man, I don't think you should do anything just 'cause it'd make me less nauseous, I was just sayin'.  It's the politicking that makes me wanna hurl.  A little here and there is fun, but the nonstop bombardment, particularly of the heavy partisan LOL³/Bush is Hitler/Liberuls hate Amurrikah kind...and of course any political thread seems to bring this out, no matter how smartly it is started.  It's honestly got nothing to do with who you support, 'cause up until now all I knew was that you weren't a big Bush fan, and neither am I.  Regardless of content, if it's political, it's just adding more of the same old bore, and that's what I could do without.  That said, I don't think you even approach the mindless blather that the extreme political tards on the edge of reason spout off here.

So, as I was saying, I hate you, and I hope you get eaten by a rabid seal as you slumber in your igloo tonight.

Nash, plain and simple... nobody thinks Kerry is a good man. Dems may want him to win and all, but only a retard would think Kerry is a great guy. The guy makes about 95% of all men wanna puke and the other 5% laugh at his pathetic, lying, suck-up,  arse.
