DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

It's called  "Saw"  as in Hacksaw.

A serial killer locks people in basements and give's them "mad max like" choices.

Saw through your leg or saw through the cuffs type deal.

Previews look good but was wondering if anyone here had seen it.

man I saw some pieces on the internet  a while ago.  Saw is one sick, fked up movie.  I may have to see it just for that reason, but man it's nasty.

It's got Cary Elwes and Danny Glover. How bad can it be?

If I'm thinking of the right movie, the serial killer locks this guy in a room surrounded by barbed wire.  The guy had two choices, die by some crazy buzz saw, by staying in the room or claw and crawl his naked prettythang through so many feet of barbed wire.

Pretty good review

However, what does effect your enjoyment of the film are some of the acting turns. Cary Elwes, playing doctor Lawrence Gordon is a little ropey in parts of the film that you need him to be solid in order to keep you scared. What director James Wan so nearly achieves with Saw is the bridge between the straight forward shock slasher pic, like The Texas Chainsaw Massacreand the more involved slow burning psychological film, such as The Shining. It falls down because the performances don’t allow you to care enough about the pawns in the killer’s game.

But how often do you identify with the characters in horror movies? I know that I spend a lot time hurling abuse at the fool that refuses to take a bat with him to the cellar. And I’m regularly pleased when the schmuck is finally put out of his misery. Darwinism in practice.

I liked it, but found it frustrating at the same time. The acting lets it down towards the end and it actually destroyed any suspension of disbelief for the last ten minutes or so. But the story is interesting and the twist is great. The book is probably much better. Worth seeing IMO.
