Something has to be done.  Unfortunately any corrections made at this point will have to draconian and painful to the US.  But when the other option is the economic collapse of the US, I think those steps are necessary.

Not necessarily, the governments of the counties won't have to tax their citizens to buy those billions of USDs.  That would free up those monies for increase in standard of living or captial investment.  

There would be an immediate displace of labour in the exporting sectors, but frankly, so what?  Those people have been sucking up tax dollars for ages anyway.  But once the labour correction is done, they find jobs in sectors that actually benefit countries and their economies.

Well, they paid you in kind by giving you a country to begin with.  ;)

I understand the sentiment, but that isn't going change the economic realities.
