Further, the bracket adjustment clearly favors the lowest income taxpayers.

Before the 2001 "Bush tax cut"

2004, after the 2001 "Bush tax cut"

Now, if you want to argue that extremely rich people can afford to pay the very best tax advisors, attorneys and investment people to decrease their tax burden, I'd agree. I'd also agree that that very, very rich have tax shelters available that are not available to lower bracket taxpayers. But you can't hang either one of those situations on Bush. It's been that way forever, under Presidents from both parties.

My question is:  In light of these charts, how come the DNC is braying about how "Bush's" tax cuts favored the rich?  Could they be... lying?

No, Funky.

Capt. Apathy will be along to link us to certain somewhat "hidden" benefits in the Bush tax cuts that only the wealthy......... however a Democrat defines that........ can take advantage of.

Or something like that.

It's a conspiracy I tell ya....they're LISTENING! Get under the cone of silence!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Funked, they use total dollars to arrive at the "Bush cut taxes for the Rich" bullchit, while leaving out the part about who actually pays the most taxes.

All you have to look at is the chart Funky provides us with and you can see the biggest winners in the tax cuts are those in the highest bracket, whose liability will be cut 3.6%. Those in the middle class get a tax break of 2%.

Basically the "rich" (defined as those in the next highest tax bracket then me) got almost double the tax cut I got.
