FM2 icon

When switching to plane type icon mode, a friendly fm2 shows up as F4F.
Not sure for enemy fm2s though.

FM-2 are F4F's just a different manufacturer... kinda like the difference between a TBF and a TBM... if you use the Grumman naming system I think the FM-2 corresponds to somthing like the F4F-7 or somthing (I'd have to go look it up)

FM-2 is NOT the same as the F4F.

It is a later model, with an improved engine, better performance, and even has WEP (which the F4F does not have).

As far as I recall, I thought all FM-2s had their own icon, but it's been a while since I remember.

The FM-1 was the GM equivalent of the F4F-4.

The FM-2 was the GM equivalent of the Grumman designed XF4F-8 improved version.  

It was manufactured almost until the end of the war for escort carrier use.

FM2's and F4F's are the same... the FM-2 is a later model of the F4F-4 we have in the game, but it's still a F4F.  Unless I'm remembering things all wrong.

Pulling it right of The Hamlyn Concise Guide to American Aircraft of WWII...might be more authoritative sources, but...

F4F-4 (by Grumman) was equivalent to the FM-1 (by General Motors).

... I'm not saying that the F4F-4 and the FM-2 are the same plane... I'm saying that are both different models of the F4F line of aircraft... thus it is not unusual that they share the same icon.

Ah yes, point well taken.  Kind of like the 190 series or the F4Us--they share the same icon.  But, hard to say they are the same plane in an absolute sense.

If i recall the FM-2 was an F4F-8 manufactured by General Motors.  Just off the top of my head though, nothing to back it up.
