Poor Illegals.....

wait wait wait, hold the phone, you mean all these mexicans here in Tucson are illegals, man I just thought we had a killer tourism market.

Funny story actually, a guy im friends with here who is a sheriff was telling me about a time he got called to some houses in the country. Turns out some illegals who had jumped the border were knocking on doors asking for water. When he showed up and started talking with them he found out they had been started walking at mexico city. Now that is one hell of a walk just too come here to the US, he said he felt kinda bad putting them on a bus and shipping them back after they put that much effort into it.

The problem is that much of the law is poorly written. (BTW, I voted in favor of it).  There are questions as to whether a EMT or rescue personal must check id before providing emergency services and other things.  The basic idea is sound, but they left a lot of the finer questions open.  I believe that it will be found unconstitutional based on it being too vague.  However I voted becuase it was more of a message thing rather than believing it would stand up to a legal challenge.

Sad thing is, much like drugs and booze, the only way to ever stop UDA's is to cut off the demand.  As long as busineses, be they corporations like Wal-Mart or small ones, can hire UDA's without any fear of having the crap fined out of them, the UDA's will come.  Only by making it more expensive to hire UDA's will people quit using them.  And only when there isn't a demand for their services will they stop making the dangerous trek across the border.

And neither party, despite what the Dem's say, want to piss off corporate America enough to enforce currant laws against the hiring of UDA's.

No demand, no supply.

Dune, didn't the same thing happen in California?( Prop 187, I  think)

There has to be some measure we can use to put a dent in the public services Illegals take advantage of.

Also, everytime an Illegal is identified, no matter how long they have lived here or how established they are, they should be deported. Should they return, they should go to jail for a while and then deported.

I agree that the demand side has to be delt with as well, but I see no reason to look the other way rather than penalize Illegals for their crimes as well.

I don't think most illegals are working for corporations.  They are mostly working for very small businesses where it is easier to slip them in under the radar.   I'm really puzzled why neither party has the sacks to do anything about such a rampant problem.

The courts have said immigration is a federal matter, so please direct future whining on this issue to the Republican party.

SOrry but I say give the guys work cards.  Make them work ON THE BOOKS and TAX THEM!

This will help offset expenses that they cause.  There will no longer be any sympothy for illegals and employers can still get cheap labor.

Just my opinion though.
