Story and shots...(Bish's...)
« on: February 02, 2000, 06:33:00 PM »
Well, it is late, so I will be short and willpost the full story tomorrow...
GREAT EVENING WITH THE BISHOPS, WE DID IT, A NICE STRIKE, HEHEHE

This is what I susaly fly, even if tonight, I was bad at it...

Then, Bee/Jeng gave me my 1st lesson of Bombing, where we cleared out the Knot's F8...

This is where the story begins : right after our Dar was shut down, MarkVX (I hope it's him...) organised a cool strike of Buffs on the knit's dar

LOL, took me 3 times (crashes/deaths) to take off with 2 Fuel tanks...but I finaly did it...
I first escorted them in a Hog (Managed to kill 3 Cons before getting shot down) and I finaly joined in one of the buffs to be a (TERRIBLE) gunner...

there was a pony that kept comming at us, I pinged him many times, but he finaly got us...

Well, I'll write more about  this tomorrow...after 6 hours of AH, I am exausted...night all !

FULL STORY (From the eyes of the escort, that is....)

1st pic is just a shot I took offline to comment on the Nik, nothing to do with it, appart that every day i like that plane more and more, and tend to use it in mid to low level engagements. High Alt engagements are ok, if you go against a Spit or a 109, but I do not advise it against Pony's Hogs...or even Buffs (Thx to CaveJ for that little lesson he teached me withoutknowing it  ...He was Bombing F4 from high alt, and I discovered him after I took off from 4 and was in my Nikki, so, I decided to go for it instead of landing, go to another field etc...After a 20/25 min climb, I was finaly level with him, but was barely able to catch up, and could not pull the nose further...so, i could not position myself for a Kill, I was already loew on fuel, so I had to go in sooner or later. Came in on his 6 {Baaad, I know, but....} and started pinging him, I could see some hits but was too far and...ran out of ammo pretty fast....CaveJ then finaly opened fire on me and smoked me allright   <S!> for your patience on that one CaveJ !)

Bee came online, and we started flying some runs over F8, I wasen't verry proactive, and got bounced  a couple of times by some Knit Pony pair (Good work you two...nice drags...Not that I  enjoyed getting shot down, but   ).

Bee decided to show me what Bombing was about (Pic 2/3) and we went for the B26...using autospeed and some rudder turns (was a little confused at 1st, took me a while to discover that on the map, the direction of the AC is not the plane itself, but the direction of the Gunner you represent's facing....). We went for F21 and Smacked the helloutavit   (Had an F4U chasing me when we egressed, but thanks to a High Bish I had to leave me, hehehe cheerio !)

Went back to Nik and Hog again, got a couple of good ops over the North of F8 (Did an HO with a Stang, he lived, I died...go figure   ...). And I want to appologise to a Bish that was calling for help, as I didn't see it imediately as I was chasing a Buff, and concentrating on it...only saw the request after I got the buff, and looked at the text buffer....sorry, oops

Then One of the coolest thing I saw since I started AH happened : MarcXV organised a large scale Buff hunt to the Knit's Radar facilities...WOW !
As I got on the Runnway with my Hog, Fully loaded with 100% fuel and 2 Fuel tanks (Yes, I did survive that long   ) My FPS dropped to 7 , LOL, I wa ssitting right in the middle of 12 B17 Cockpits

Took me three attempts to take off with that  heavy hog (Rudder is on joystick buttons...sigh, not cool) Crashed in the Amo dump once and rolled on myself twice, but the 3rd time was the good one...Rejoined in with the Buffs, and we settled on the good radio freq...Another Bish fighter joined in and we started zig-zagging above the buffs (A very realistic like feeling) and looking/calling "Dot, high NE..."...investigating, comming back

The Bish fighter had to leave us as he was low on fuel, and (BOY THAT HOG DRINKS.....) I was ready to drop the tanks...

We were soon over indian territory, and while I was circling above the buffs, Lefty7 called in "Dots comming up from 66666!!!" , turned, slowly dived to recover speed, and went for it..1st victim was a Stang, I feignted a left turn at D50, then came back with the rudders (yark, yark...) some 50 20mm bullets "SAWed" his left wing.....
"Dang" there goes a Spit, passed D70 on my left, and went for the buffs...Wep on, dive, turn slowly......come in on his LOW six..wait wait...wait.....TADADADADA... .another one down...never saw me

As I rejoin with the trail buff, I see a Nik comming for the group. there i go again, but sigh, pull a little to much and loose E, the Nik is now D40 and I dive to get speed a gain, he's slightly higher no, and dives for me....HO.....both cut in half

I join the silk club....

As soon as I hit the ground , I joined in as a gunner on a buff (My very 1st time...) and do an AWEFULL job at it...a Pony attacked us, and as I said in the other post, pinged him, but he finaly got us after multiple passes...I SUCK AS A GUNNER

Very nice experience....buff pilots, if you need an escort, call me in, I'll be glad to come !

Oh man that was a great strike.  The rooks had just struck our radar, and I was frustrated.  Instead of grabbing a fighter and throwing myself into unknown territory, I asked for any willing buffs to meet at F1 for a raid on rook dar.  I could tell that others were frustrated by losing dar, and wanted to hit the rooks where it hurt.  We had 5 B17's and a B26 on the runway, along with Saintaw in his heavy (very very heavy   ) hog, so we decided to roll.  4 of the B17s were loaded with 1,000lb bombs for dar, and 1 B17 and the 26 was loaded with 500lbers for the city. We climbed together for a while, establishing comon headings and climb speeds, and jockeying the throttle to stay with eachother.  I would have really pittieed any con who flew through this box of buffs.  Saitaw was still with us, and Trimmer rondevouxed with us in a fighter for a little bit of escort on his remaining fuel.  We pressed on, eventually getting to over 30k before we reached our target.  After a bit of briefing the rest of the bombers on pointers and comments on hitting dar, Gigantor and Lefty7 (I think) went after the city, while me, beefcake, killer1, boukie, and Radace1 went after the dar.  The city was hit hard, and we swiftly hit the dar, in a neat pattern of us 4 buffs assigned to the dar making neat passes back and forth.  We lost one of our buffs to a con, probably because he got a bit low throughout the bombing.  overall I count this as a huge bishop success.  After the dar was down, we got up to 18, and we were working on 17 when I finally went to bed. We finally got a dedicated group together, and our mission was fufilled with flying colors, and it was a hell of a lot of fun.  And you know what?  Just this afternoon, we got a group of 5 B17's together to hit rook dar again, and once again we succeeded. We may be a bit behind, but I think us bishes are finally realizing the importance of organized bomber strikes, and how much fun they are.
