Performance with damage question

I lost both wing tips in a f4u once and out ran an la7. Missing parts will speed you up, but not much if that change isn't symmetrical.

Performance with damage question

Loosing wingtips makes you faster

Rip off your landing gear and there is no performace loss. Loss of the entire main gears (especially fully enclosed when retracted types) should put a huge drag factor on the airframe and cause a lot of speed loss.

Also asked for several times is loss of output engine power when it is damaged (not the current instant dead engine effect). Like if the oil is hit, the engine begins to loose power gradually, rather than running at full power until the oil is gone.
