Wife and I coming up to Vancouver in mid November for a week for a little R&R. What are the good "Gotta see sights" and what are the "Just skip it, it's a tourist trap"??
I'm bringing my camera equipment for some scenics and city-scape shots.

I'm not Canadian, but I do live in the Pacific NW.

If you like the mountains, Whistler opens Nov.25th for skiing. If you don't ski, or even if the slopes aren't open yet, it's still a cool place to go anyway if you have a car. http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/

Chinatown in Vancouver has great food. I think it's either larger than San Francisco's or almost as large.

A ferry ride out Vancouver Island to Victoria is a beautiful trip you'll never forget. Victoria is a small but neat place. Butchart gardens are great, but I'm not sure about them this time of year.

Be sure to bring sweaters and raingear!

I think you should book a trip to Banff when you are there. Banff is old style Canadian mountain tourist railroad town.

If you ski there is good skiiing there as well.

Whistler a is new modern Interwest type place.

I just moved from Vancouver in March. Funny, I can't think of a damned thing worth doing there. I'll work harder at it - I'm sure something will come to mind.

No sking in Western Canada in mid November.
If your driving I wouldnt spend the week in Vancouver.
The Beauty of Western Canada isnt in our Citys, its in the open spaces.
If you were driving I would sugest a route of
Victoria, Vancouver, Whislter,Whistler, Kamloops, Banff, Calgary
Victoria, Banff and Whistler are all tourist towns..but there is good reason they are.
