A neighbor of mine here on the lake recently got paid a visit by a Pit Bull. First off the the Pit attacked one of the neighbors small dogs in the front yard. Hearing the commotion my neighbor went outside to see what was happening. The Pit then turned on him and bit him in the leg, both hands and then clamped down on his forehead. The neighbor finaly got him down in a choke hold long enough to take the wind out of it`s sails.
The county S.O. was called and the neighbor was first told that they didn`t respond to dog bite cases. When my neighbors wife told them " Fine just send an ambulance for the dog`s owner" they decided to come out.
They took a report, but said there was nothing they could do.
The Health Dept. said differently and forced the S.O. into doing their job. The dog was placed in quarantine only when the owner was told there would be a $5000.00 a day fine if they refused to do so.
The owner of the dog at first told the S.O. that the dog was their kids pet and had never been violent. After investigation it was learned that the dog had been trained at an early age for fighting and had been fought for money on numerous occasions.
