I think once people stopped bailing as much, we kind of lost interest.  That and all of the whines you see on channel one became repeats of past ones.  Who knows, maybe now there is a new herd of fresh meat looking to be introduced to the "FDB sacrifice 15k of alt to kill a chute" style of play.
