I spoke with John on the phone this AM....he's doing the recovery thingie and is kinda hurtin, still his spirits are good.

Here's the plan....the hospital will release him this Friday and he will return home to KC. They are awaiting the pathology report on the removed kidney so as to determine what type of cancer had invaded the kidney....they expect the results back at the earliest Friday, the latest would be next Monday.

He will return to Houston for another series of scans and a possible biopsy of a growth on his kidney....this is expected to be benign, however, they just want to make sure.

Again, John is very grateful and touched by your prayers and support....please keep them coming and let's all stand together in faith for John's health to be restored.

One single truth? The best thing about AH is the people that fly it....again, I thank you guys as well.

When he gets home, mount that LCD monitor above the bed, get a monitor cable extension, put his headphones on, ductape his joystick to one hand and his keyboard to the other...  Load up AH and enjoy the recovery  =)

Just be sure to RTB before the drugs kick in...

Seriously though... great news that he's doing better.  All these guys are pulling for him, and he sounds like a remarkable individual... I'm sure he'll come through with flying colors!  \

If he's bored & in any kind of mood to play, let us Houstonians know! I'll run him a laptop & joystick.

He is in excellent hands at least. Houston hospitals are great. I've had the (un?)fortunate luck of being their guest a few times.

Man - I just read this thread.  I can relate very well.  I went thru the same thing a few years back - lost my right kidney.  Docs said it had a huge mass in it, no function - could be cancer - had to come out, etc.  Had it out, coded the day after surgery, woke up in ICU a few days later.  Turned out not to be cancer - just a huge blood clot where a kidney stone had ripped a vein or soemthing.
Our prayers are with you for a complete and speedy recovery!  Take advantage of the morphine while you can!:)

Toad,

I suck at coming up with words for things like this, so I'll go with...

Best wishes

I think it's a long drive back from Houston to Kansas City (more than 600 miles) so if Mr. and Mrs. Toad started home on Friday, they might have wanted to take two days over it - probably due back sometime today.

Toad was going to stay in hospital an extra day.  He was pretty weak and didn't want to "push it".  I think he won't get home until tomorrow then.
