MP3 players

Looking to get one to replace the bulky cd player I broke at work. I figure an mp3 player is smaller and I can just download music to it everyday instead of carrying cd's. Kinda wondering if anyone here has purchased one lately and can recommend some good ones. I do not mind spending a little extra to get quality.

Ipod allaway.

No competition yet.

Buying an Ipod is weird. We make a hundred random purchases a day. But when ya get an Ipod, you almost immediately feel like your life has changed in some small way.

I dont' have an IPOD but if you are looking for afordable the Rio takes the cake.  I got mine on Ebay for $45.  I run about 2-3 times a week with it and it hasn't let me down yet.  It's also small enough to run with as well.  It has 64mb on board and is expandable to 1gig IIRC w/ a memory card.

I have iRiver iHP-120 and love it. I did a lot of research before buying it. Most people say that iPod is the best  MP3 player, but reviews and MP3 player round-ups ( both web sites and magazines) applaud iRiver.

"iRiver iHP-120 Review - iPod wants to know who stole its thunder"

If I'd be buying a player now, I'd go for the new model iRiver H320, which is basically improved iHP-120 and has colour display.

Thnx for the info, picked up an ifp-790(iriver). It has an FM tuner and 256mb mem(8 hours, get me through my shift), real small too. $150.00, I just hope it is durable.

I took over a month to study the capabilities of the current MP3 players and it came down to the iPod or the iRiver.

iRiver iHP-120 all the way.  More features and longer battery life.  Lower priced.  You get an FM tuner built in as well as a voice recorder (great for making recordings at concerts).  Digital in and out as well as audio in and out.  Lots more accessories too.

The only area where the iPod had an advantage was in size by being slightly thinner with the flat faced control wheel.

my only reason for not buying something like that was for an extra $50 i got a 30GB hard drive basically, that i almost assuredly will never fill up.
I don't know what to put here yet.

That's what i got.  I have it packed with a bunch of high energy music.  It has made all the difference when working out.  Actually makes it fun to jump on that treatmill.

Love my iPOD. It's a 2gen 10G that I got off ebay for 170.  It holds all I need it to,  and even has a game built in. :aok

I got my RIO off Ebay too, it has 32MB and I paid $26 including shipping. By resampling the songs to 64kbps, it holds almost an hour of music, just enough for my jogs.

I actually I have a CD Run to the cadence of the US Marines.  I don't run to it though because the pace is too slow.  Techno works for me when running.  When I'm not in the mood for that I like some classic rock.
