Any way to go back to patch 10?
« on: October 24, 2004, 02:20:51 AM »
I downloaded the new patch11 to play with the gunnery changes.  Seriously screwed with my video.  As I fly, I can watch behind me or off to the side and see the line where it's drawing the sky.  Its huge blocks of a darker blue that dont even fade into sky, they just dissapear in a steady line.  Its very annoying and if the plane I'm trying to watch happens to be in that zone on the edge of my view, I cant see him anymore.  I had no problems with patch 10, is there a way to go back to it?  Oh, and why did patch 11 take away all the custom skins??  Thanks.

sounds like you have more problems than the patch to me. I loaded the patch and nothing changed video wise. Use F1, F2, F3, F4 to change the video in the game, you may have change something by accident. Another thing, you may have a boarder line video set-up, so a small change may have pushed you over the edge. Old video driver could have worked ok with patch 10, but aren't enough for patch 11. Just a few things to check.

The more info, specs wize you post with your problem, the more help you may get due to some of these "tech" guys spotting something.

im not sure if there is an easier way but i uninstalled AH2 and went to the message board, opened "news and announcements", at the bottom where is says showing threads 1 to 5... hit the pull down box and highlight "the beginning", hit go and go to page 2 and hit the AH2 Released. now download that and then download all the patches till you get to 10.  once you have completed this go to your C drive, program files and look for AH20010.. hit the icon and the installation will start. this is what i had to do and ive had no problems at all since. like i said, i dont know of an easier way but this way worked for me. hope this helps.

Wouldn't it be much faster to just go to the download page on the website and just dl the current version as it includes the patches up to patch 10?

Hmmmm.......I'm not the only one having problems like this yanno.  I dont know what you would consider "borderline" but I was doing fine with the game before I tried the patch and getting up to 75 fps in the air with Vsync and all the goodies on.  Detail in the game was about 65-75% towards the more detail side on the slider.  Never had a slowdown or a freezeup.  I do have a new processor on order, as my old Athlon 1800 could use a boost, and I'd like the upgrade in bus speed as well.  From what I've read in the boards, if I have a slowdown anywhere its the processor.  What I'm guessing is.......

The patch was intended to allow people who didnt have T&L capabilities on their video cards to play the game.  It would almost have to shift the burden to the processor.  Given the fact that I have a high end video card (relatively......before the 6800 release anyway) and the latest drivers, decent RAM and had no problems before, and given the fact that AH2 is highly processor dependent, the bottleneck on my system becomes the probable culprit (the processor) and supports my theory (so far).  Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the advice on checking the video setup, but I wasnt asking for that.  I didnt need the patch to play the game, I just heard that it changed the gunnery a bit and I wanted to stay up with the curve if its going to stay that way in the 2.1 release.  What I need to know is, how can I get back to patch 10 instead of 11.  I'm sure that HTC will either fix the issue in the 2.1 release (since patch 11 was a voluntary download on my part I cant exactly blame them lol), or my processor upgrade will take care of it.  For now, I just want to be able to play the game.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I do appreciate it.  Even what I dont need right now gets stored for later in case of new problems.  :aok

Thought of that first, but patch 11 is the only thing available for download, even as the "full" version.

I'm going to try the download off the BBS tonight when I get home.  Thanks again for the advice guys.

OUCH!  I thought Pyro stated that patch 11 was an OPTIONAL dl.  I guess it isn't.  Me thinks that AH needs a whole lot of new beta testers before releasing a fiasco patch like 11.

It is optional.  If you already have the game installed, the auto-updater doesnt force a download on you.  No one forced me to do it I was just curious.  Since the main issue of the patch was to make more systems compatible, I didnt think it would affect me.  Actually, I didnt think period, there is probably a reason they didnt make it a mandatory download.  I should have left it alone until the new version comes out in the auto-updater.  No blame on HTC's part, they are just trying to resolve some of the big issues and ease some frustrations for guys who havent been able to fly.  I guess I'm like the little kid who KNOWS whats gonna happen when his uncle says "pull my finger" but does it anyway just to see what happens this time lol.

Awhile ago I had a problem with AH 2011 and was advised by the support guy at HiTech Creations to d/l AH2010OLD and I though that is whatI put on my game files CD but now that file is missing and some other version of 2010 is on the CD.  Is this the same as the OLD version?

I am having a problem with odd graphics when I use the up views and it is annoying the heck out of me.

You cant go back to patch 10 anymore.  The autoupdater has the new version, and if you reinstall an old version it will just keep updating you.  Patch 11 was not mandatory and wasnt in the autoupdater.
