You talking about wikipedia?  Or Goatse?  I'd say that while wikipedia is proof that some people have a lot of free time, it's an excellent resource and fun to contribute to.

If you're talking about goatse, then I think that it's almost 100% effective at doing exactly what it means to, and that's shock.
