My Ballot!
« on: November 02, 2004, 05:34:56 PM »
For those of you who don't remember my reply in a post about my wife mailing off my ballot:

I voted in Texas via absentee ballot.  I filled it out put it in the envelope but didn't have a pen.  My wife actually doing something nice for me mailed it off for me UNSIGNED!  I couldnt get too mad cause she had good intentions.

Well the Greyson county clerk was nice enough to mail it back to me to sign.  I'm off to the post office to get it post marked today.

:aok

My VOTE COUNTS!

WTG, and cool to hear that the clerk was so diligent. The news is flooded with stories of incompetence by poll workers, election commissioners etc., its great to hear a story that shows some are on top of it.

I was about to walk out the door when I realized that they allready postmarked the return envelope for oct 27th.  No rush to get the ballot out today, it can go out with tomorrows mail.

The other pleasant expeirence w/ Texas was I sent an email to the attourny gen.'s office that I hadnt recieved my ballot yet and was concerned.  I got a response in less than 24 hours, I even noticed the email was flagged for followup and cc'd to other people to make sure it got taken care of!

That would not have worked in Cali.

The Cali absentee balots are all marked "not valid unless recieved at the country pole office by november 2"

It specificaly says post marks do not count.
