F4U-D bug.    I upped a F4U-D model today off of a carrier with rockets,two 500 LB bombs,and 50% fuel.    The carrier was maintaing a straight course.  I applied power slowly with two notches of flaps extended and then noticed my plane tracking to the left side of the carrier.   I hit the brakes and let off the power. I then towered and reupped again.  While on the flight deck I calibrated my Saitek Evo Cyborg.  I then applied power again and noticed my ball was way over to the left. The little gauge that shows which way your rudder is in relation to the deck.    I tried to counter rudder it while rolling down the deck and crashed .  
No matter what I did to calibrate the little ball would stay all the over to the left.
After I died I upped a F6F-5 with same loadout for ord. and fuel and successfully took off.  

I will try again in the AM as I am at work now.  Will try the morning of 9 Nov. and try to get a few pics for all to see.   I will up a F4U-D with the same loadout and see what happens.    I have in the past used this loadout and have taken off from the flight deck with problems what so ever.

That little ball doesn't tell you where your rudder is positioned.

It is there to indicate that you are in an uncoordinated turn (IE you are sliding through a turn. In effect it indicates YAW).

I suspect that what was happening to you is that the Carrier was in the process of turning whle you were trying to take off. Can't tell you how many times I have gone to the hangar to select a plane (with the CV on a straight course) only to find out on T/O roll that it has started turning.

One of the reasons I no longer use auto takeoff during CV ops anymore.

U sure about the Carrier being on a straight course Gunner? The ball seems to be saying otherwise.

I have crashed numerous times because of being a noobie while trying to take off from the carrier while it is in a turn.    This past instance the carrier was tracking true and not in a turn.   What I do is this.   I look behind me and also look at the escort ships to see if they are in a turn. If I can see that the carrier or escort ships are in a turn I will not apply power untill the carrier straightens out.

Wasn't really sure how to go about explaiing that and took a best guess at it.    

Lots of times I also will sit on the bridge (TOWER) while doing carrier ops and see if the carrier is in a turn or not.  I will go to the hangar,select loadout and plane and then go to the tower and wait to see what the carrier is doing.   If not in a turn I will hit the H button and take off.  If it is in a turn I will wait till the turn is completed.

Mine does that if I lose my calibration in Windows.  I can calibrate all I want in AH but it does no good until I fix the Win calibration.  Havent had the problem lately since I got the correct drivers.

Only problem I ever had taking off carrier is the right wing on the F4U's tend to hit tower or main gun while the CV is going straight when I not even close to the tower or main gun.  Its a random event but does happen.  Other then that I can take off with a F4U-1C with rockets, 2 1k bombs and 100% fuel with ease.

Taking off from a carrier in a turn shouldnt be a problem.

1. Dont use Autotakeoff.
2. Use the C (left brake) and V (right brake) buttons to true your course.  Tap, do not hold down these keys.

No more waiting :).

Gunner, sounds like you may have some stick calibration issues.
I must admit that I haven't experienced this while T/O from a carrier with the HOG for quite a while.

Starof Africa pointed out calibrating in windows first. I would do that and see if I am getting any rudder spikes that could cause this. There is an indicator for flight control positions on the instrument panel in the cockpit as well. Have you checked to see where your rudder is positioned using this?

I would cal in windows and then in game and see if you get an improvement.

Of course, all this assumes that there is not a bug here. Just because I haven't experienced it doesn't mean it's not there.

Anybody else having an issue with this?

odd.  I can take off from a turning carrier with a F4u 100% fuel, 2k, and ivar's no problem.  It's quite rare that I don't make it.  And that is w/o backing up.

Glad you have no problems with your skill on taking off from a carrier.     How much time do you have in the game?      I have been playing since this past May.   Still a rookie here.
