How do you fly the FW-190D-9

I'm a big 190fan and i fly the 190A-8 as one of my planes (i don't like to stick to one boring plane  :D) and i wanted to learn the D-9, but while i'm 10-6 in the 190A-8 i'm 1-5 in the 190D-9.  How do you fight this plane.  Everytime i end up on the receiving end of someones gun.  I can outmaneuver planes in the 190A-8 but not in the D-9.  Can anyone give me some tips on how to fly this to change my opinion that "This plane Sucks."???

my squad is a 190d9 squadron but that doesn't mean we know how to fly it   :)

but its a true BnZr turning will kill you dont pull alot gs zooming. It climbs pretty good.

Wash rinse repeat. The thing about the d9 is you can engage and disengage at will provided you think ahead. They dont call it a "hunstang" for nothing.

If you choose to turn use vert but I suggest against it. Keep fast dont force shots if you dont have shot grab and repeat.

The snapshot capability in a d9 is weak so unless u get a "good" burst be prepared to make a few passes.

Alot of my guys are busy with real life this week but sometime this weekend look one of us up and we'll fly together.

If not naudet or any of the black adder guys may be able to help ya.

Sometimes things will supprise you. I came in on a spit that was in a near vert climb once. He went full rudder and rolled. I lost gun solution and blew through at 400 true extended to 2k and to my delight the spit followed. I went vert climbed about 2 k and winged over and proceeded to drop on him. As I came in he went vert trying to get those hispanos on me. I rolled out of the way and went past him and then went into a gradual pull out (about 2gs) Well the spit winged over followed cut my climb and killed me.

Now I figured he would do this but my e state was way higher then his even with him cutting the corner on me I was way faster.

Just be prepared.

Now what alt would you recomend? I heard it's a medium-high alt fighter?  If it is I can see two fighters that may give me a problem.  The Bf-109G-10 (not too much trouble though) and the P-51D (i hate this plane  :D, I can't kill them too well at hi alt) any tips against them?

Hum.  The D-9 is hands down the 'best' German plane in the game, in my opinion.  That said, a decently flown la-7 will kick your bellybutton every single time.  I rarely go above 15k in any plane, sometimes I cruise at 20k, but that is fairly rare.  From the deck to 10k, I'd say the D-9 is superior to the 109G10 in a 1 on 1 situation.  The Dora is faster, rolls much better, and packs a more concentrated punch (in my opinion).  If you are in the Dora, you want to use your speed and rollrate, and try to keep the fight above 300mph- the G10 doesn't handle at its best above 300mph (it doesn't get positively sluggish until around 400mph though).  Be aware, however, that the G10 outaccelerates you once the fight gets slow, and it turns better as well.

Against a Mustang I don't have much advise.  I rarely have trouble killing Mustangs, but there aren't to many skilled pilots flying the plane (which is a shame, because the P-51 is a fine airplane).  I'd try to get the fight low against a Mustang, near the deck the D9 outclimbs, outaccelerates, and outruns the P-51.  The P-51 has a slight edge in turning (which grows larger as the fight slows down).  Also, don't be afraid to give the Mustang a snapshot if it means you will end up with a positional advantage.. the .50 caliber MG's are great, but you have to really hit with a sustained burst to kill someone with them.

Basically, you can fly the Dora as aggresively as you want to- I do.  Just use the vertical instead of the horizontal- also, know when you have to run.  It is OK to turn a few times with a 109, or a P47 if you think you are going to pull lead on them and get the shot- but if you stay in that circle they WILL wrap around onto your tail eventually.  I've always thought that you can make a fast plane seem manueverable with good timing, but it is impossible to make a manueverable plane catch a faster one  :).  For that reason I think the Dora is the best German plane there is in AH right now.  It also 'feels' lighter than the 109G10 on the controls, which makes it easier to adjust your aim on a pass (good thing there  :)).  Anyway, just fly it, you'll get the hang of it  :).

The Dora is my main and favorite ride.  I am 141 and 15 in it so far this tour.  Here are the three things I think are necessary to get kills and survive in the D9.

1.  Wingman.

2.  Be able to hit in blind snapshots.  Unless the target is completely unaware of you or a newbie, these are the only shots you'll get.  I actually have come to prefer this shot as you can keep your E higher and get seperation.  Hit, run, reverse.

3.  Recognize when you are losing and get the hell out.  If the fight becomes co E, you are losing.  Hit, run, run.  Spit flyers love to taunt a fleeing D9, f##k em.  They got a plane that turns fast and we got one that flies fast.  Actually this is probably the most important rule.

All of the other rules for good energy management, SA, turn in the vertical, barrel roll attacks, rolling scissors, etc. apply.

Thing about alt in a d9 soviet is very few fights take place 16k and above in ah. p51s arent to tough with the exception of a few pilots in ah. a d9 can out zoom a 51.

Just when you enter a fight just make sure your higher then your enemy. Prolonged fights which drain away your e are bad. Find a gun convergence your comfy with  and try to fire within that range.

Furious is correct come in at the enemies blind spot.
