Frame rate in the toilet
« on: November 03, 2004, 08:55:34 AM »
Prior to the new patch(es), my frame rate was in the 30-40 range.  Now it's 6 against an empty blue sky.  Absolutely unflyable--can't even tell what my attitude is due to the stutter and slow frame rate.  Yes, I preload to system RAM.

P4 2.6 ghz 1gb RAM
Nvidia 4200 64mb VRAM

My FR went up without water animation on.  But when I turn water animation on.  I drop to 6 fps.  Turned off I get 84 fps.

Shubie, did you un-check the hardware vertex processing box in video settings? I'm running a nVidia FX5200 and having no major problems. This is an el cheapo card.

I also use the FX5200 and when I uncheck the vert. proc. I get CRAZY gray....how to describe, it almost looked like graph lines.  Whenever I was near a CV my screen started flashing these crazy gray graph lookin' lines on the terrain tiles.  Sky, land, sea...all of 'em.  ALSO I could not view my Net Stats, they would pull up, but not show the graph.  ALSO i could not see the lines of waypoints.  Neither CV Waypoints, nor GV spawn points.  I could see the arrow tip, but not the lines connecting them.

Sooooooo   vert. box checked now.

BTW I filmed all these issues.  IF ya' need 'em skuzzy, let me know and i'll email in the film.
