absolutely its easier to work on.  I agree it was time for the tomcat to go.  My beef is the "super" hornet should never have been bought in the first place.  The navy needed a bigger jump.  They need an f/a-22 equivilant.

Its like the air force doing away with f-15s and f-22 then having the F-16 do everything, sure the f16 is a decent plane but its no f-22.

The F22 and JSF combo will be a stronger combo than the F15 and F16 dont you think?

Yeah... but it wasn't a flying gig. I was an air intercept controller attached to VF-191 and then VF-51. Basically... the AIC's job is to help the RIO get his radar on the target and then it's the RIO's job to get the pilot's eyes on the target.

Anyway... the class lasted about 6 weeks. It was a lot of fun.

of course, but the navy isnt going that route.  They are supposedly picking up the jsf but still no f-22 type plane.

They are putting everything into the super hornet.  Read the GAO reports I linked.  Its hard to get excited about the super hornet in anyway.  Its just not a big enough leap ahead of the legacy hornet.

JS Wha? :D
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I thought there was some sort of Navalized version of the F22 in the works?  Is that even feasible?

Isnt that why they created the JSF? They used the rear landing gear from the A-6 on the JSF, tried and true I guess :D.

The Navy F-22 type plane was cancelled a decade ago.

Nope, and nope.

A "Navalized F-22" would likely be able to carry fuel or weapons, but not both.

The A-12 had the same little problem.
