Are they only cosmetic, or do they affect drag and lift?

HTC's bullet hole display model is still very limited. It's a slow start, but its a start none the less.

I for one am hoping for much more detail with someday being able to see the bullet holes in other aircraft so wingmen can spot check their buddies for ground fire and other damage that cannot be seen from the cockpit.

I just a run in some B-24s. I had close to the same number of holes and had them in wings and fuselage. It also looked like a comet.
