yea i know the title is a teaser but this is really cool.

i have a R9800P and i run AH2 on maximum details and AF and AA set to X8 and X16 i get an averege FR of 40 give or take.

That was true untill the new patch...

after the new patch i tried the water effect but it killed my FR and gave me screen freezes, i saw that someone posted in the "water effect" thread to disable AA... so i did.
that fixed the probelm.. FR stayed solid over water and i didnt noticed any change in graphics.. (wonder what AA is good for then?)

And now for the point of this thread

last night i ALT TABed.. to check something, when i get back in the game the graphics HAVE CHANGED!!!! its like suddenly i wear glasses or something.. i tried ALT TABing again but the cool new look stayed. (a good thing! )

so with no further BS

the pictures are a bit blurry because i had to convert them to JPEG format from BMP but you get the picture!

FSAA makes the edges stand out less, less noticable the higher your resolution.

AF sharpens the textures near you.

your screenshots seem to show that AF has been messed up by the alt tab.

still it looks odd, i notce your fps is terrible in the 2nd shot as well?

FPS is low because i took the screen shot the second the game poped up, it goes up to around 30-40FPS after a few seconds

Disabling Terrain Mipmapping in AH Setup causes this.

Second shot looks grainy. Thats why i keep the animated water off.

before you disable anything, first make sure your drivers are up to date? to include your sound card.

im running a ati 9200 128mb card, your is a better card and im getting 80fps...

also shut down anything in window's you dont need running, ie.msnmessenger,firewall, virus protection, basicaly anything your computer doesnt need to run properly

ps almost forgot, i run my video card more to the performance side of things too.
