Funky Video Aritifacts with Horizon On
« on: November 03, 2004, 11:10:15 PM »
Hey guys,

I just bought a new computer with the following equipment:

Asus MB KV8 Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3400
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128
1gig Geil DDR 400 PC 3200 Ram
ViewSonic 19 UltraBrite E90f+ Monitor
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Z Soundcard

I am having problems with funny artifacts on the bottom and top of the screen.  When the "Horizon" button is selected in video setup I get blue squares near the edges of the screen especially when I my view is showing the horizon near the bottom or top of the screen.  If I have the view set with the horizon near the middle I don't get any big blue squares at all.  The blue squares look like the color of the sky when the "Horizon" button is unchecked.  This is most noticable in a field gun and shows up across the entire bottom of the screen.  It does occur however when in a plane but usually shows up in one or both of the top corners.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for the video card (catalyst drivers?) from ATI and also the latest drivers for the monitor.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be most appreciated.  Oh I have also tried to toggle all of the other options on or off and the only button that solves it is the horizon button.

Thanks,
Zaphod

Its happening to alot of people in this release that just came out.  Just uncheck the horizon box and we will have to wait for HTC to figure it out and provide a fix.

I'm getting the same effect.  It looks like the horizon isn't rendering locally near the point that another line intersects the horizon effect...

I downloaded the latest full AH2 installer and started to get this problem after installation.

My rig is:

P4 2.4C with HT
1GB RAM
ATI 9800 Pro 128MB vid card
Win XP Pro SP2

Just thought I would mention that I did NOT get this effect when flying Online, just Offline.  I was on tonight and it was about an hour before I noticed I wasn't really having the issue.  Could be that it only happens when the sun is just at the right angle?

I'm thinking it may be map related in some way.

Got this problem offline in ndisles.

H2H in Solomons map no issues.

Will test further and report later.
