the screen shots i take in the game turn out to be large and five meg. in size. is there any way to shrink the size and the file size?

Crop or resize them in a graphics editor, save them as JPEG at a medium quality setting (6-7).

I save all mine at 1200x900 and they are about 180 kb when done, without any real quality loss.

But, how did you get that shot out of AH2? O, maybe that particular aircraft has an F3 mode? (never flew it)

I never take shots within the game; I always take them from the Film Viewer. That way, F3 is not an issue. Also, you can slow down time, even stop it, to find just the perfect angle.

One other trick... get the "camera" out of the default zoom setting (get rid of the fisheye lens effect). Set the view settings to External and Pan Mode, then hit the Z key for zoom. Now play with the FoV zoom and the Distance sliders until you get the shot you want. PrintScreen and paste into your favorite Bitmap Editor, then crop out the menus and frames.

But, it's the size of your image that surprised me. When I Print Screen off of my film viewer, I get these tiny images. Stretching them, of course, affects picture quality.

Ahhh, gotcha... my monitor is set to 1600x1200, and before I open a film file in the Viewer, I maximize the Viewer window, filling the screen.

After PrintScreening and pasting into PhotoShop, I crop at a consistent size of 1200x900. Never resize an image larger than it's original size.

Another trick... although you may not want it IN the game, you can turn on AntiAliasing for the Film Viewer; it makes the shots look even nicer
